Hi Santosh,

This setup will work, 1 link to each edge switch will be active and the second link will go into spanning tree blocked state.

in case 1 link fails, the second link will kick in after 50 sec (default STP timeres).

I don't see a problem if you are not able to connect edge switches for some reasons.

Hope this helps....

Hello Santosh,

as noted by collegue your setup will work.

A little addition:

in your case you can get both uplinks working by using the etherchannel feature.

This provides redundancy and load balancing.

int gi0/x

switchport

channe-group N on

int gi0/y

switchport

channe-group N on

You need to use the same channe-group number N on the ports that are between the same access switch and the distribution switch.

Another note is that adding a second distribution switch would increase the fault tolerance of the network.

In this case each access layer switch connects with one link to distribution1 and the second link to distribution2.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
