SVI marked as deleted and down

Hi Guys,

I'm running (C3500XL-C3H2S-M), Version 12.0(5.2)XU, MAINTENANCE INTERIM SOFTWARE) on one of my switches. I created an SVI, lets stay VLAN135, I assigned the IP address to the Interface VLAN135 and the status was down (Administratively down) down. I did a "no shutdown" and that did not bring it up. I then deleted it so that I can recreate it. Now when I do a "show interfaces VLAN 135" I get the following.

VLAN135 is deleted, line protocol is down
Hardware is CPU Interface, address is 0005.9b81.a880 (bia 0005.9b81.a880)
  Internet address is 192.168.135.1/24
MTU 1500 bytes, BW 10000 Kbit, DLY 1000 usec,
     reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255
  Encapsulation ARPA
ARP type: ARPA, ARP Timeout 04:00:00

A "Show IP Int brief" produces the following

VLAN135                    192.168.135.1 YES manual deleted               down

All the docoumentation I've seen states that I should be able to recreate this SVI. Does anyone see what may be wrong here.

Please note that the actuall VLANs are not affected.

All thoughts and opinion welcome.

Thanks

Nik

3500 is a layer2 switch so you are only allowed to have one VLAN up/up for management purposes.

In addition, the SVI must have a port associated to it in up/up status. This port can be an access port or a trunk port.

Try rebooting the switch to remove the previously deleted SVI.

Regards,

Edison.
