switch 3560e not loading IOS

Roldan

Hi everyone:

I am trying to have a switch working(some one gave it to me as a gift, is a used switch but it was working). due to their company rules they deleted it before they gave it away.

I just want it to hard reset it so i can practice for my CCNA, but i fall into the below issues:

when i connect trough console it shows the below:

Switch:

when i try to reboot

switch: boot
Loading "flash:c3560e-universalk9-mz.150-2.SE8.bin"...flash:c3560e-universalk9-m
z.150-2.SE8.bin: invalid argument

Error loading "flash:c3560e-universalk9-mz.150-2.SE8.bin"

Interrupt within 5 seconds to abort boot process.
Boot process failed...

switch:

so i think that, c3560e-universalk9........ IOS was the one installed before, but i can not download that one so

i downloaded from cisco "c3560e-ipbasek9-mz.122-55.SE12.bin" to try to install that one instead(maybe is not the correct one, i am new in this)

but xmodem does not work, veryfied already the settings to 9600 b/p/s.

got after a few seconds a pop-up window that states "no response from remote system"

I check the flash and the below is shown:

switch: dir flash:
Directory of flash:/

2 -rwx 2282 <date> config.text
3 -rwx 5 <date> private-config.text
4 -rwx 3096 <date> multiple-fs

57662464 bytes available (9216 bytes used)

Can you please help me? i might be doing something wrong.

also the below is the version if it helps in any way.

switch: version
C3560E Boot Loader (C3560X-HBOOT-M) Version 12.2(58r)SE1, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

Thank you all in advance.

thanks a lot, I will try it.

First of all, thanks for your response Kasun Bandara.

I can not even get into rommon mode, when i reboot the switch it does nothing but the below and really fast:

switch: boot
Loading "flash:c3560e-universalk9-mz.150-2.SE8.bin"...flash:c3560e-universalk9-m
z.150-2.SE8.bin: no such file or directory

Error loading "flash:c3560e-universalk9-mz.150-2.SE8.bin"

Interrupt within 5 seconds to abort boot process.
Boot process failed...

I tried to go into rommon as the manual instructions, but not working at all, still does the same every time I triy.

also tried this in normal(no rommon) mode, just to see what happens:

switch:

switch: dir bootflash:
unable to stat bootflash:/: no such device

Still nothing.

Thanks for your time.

Hi again, I should have said that the label under the switch says the below:

TNY-WS3450x-3560X(A)

So I might have been trying to install the wrong IOS because i tried to set the "c3560e-ipbasek9-mz.122-55.SE12.bin". I am not sure what other information to provide in order to help you to help me.

If any ideas please let me know.

Thanks again.

Take the Picture of the device Front and Lable attached to this thread.

or

check the Google images which you can identified as same switch ?

or

Conenct the console, Switch of the device and switch and post the boot logs (i know it will not boot, but you get some information in the startup process)

This is a 3560E, right? Look at the back. Can you see a USB port?
The command to boot an IOS from a USB port is "boot usbflash0:IOS_filename.bin".
NOTE: They erased the IOS but they left the config behind? Amateurs!

Hi Leo, thanks for replying. The label at the back states the below:

TNY-WS3750X-3560X (A)

Yes I can see usb port, in fact I tried copying the IOS through it and failed. I tried using both IOS (3750 & 3560 ) see below:

switch: boot usbflash:c3750-ipbasek9-mz.150-2.SE11.bin
Loading "usbflash:c3750-ipbasek9-mz.150-2.SE11.bin"...usbflash:c3750-ipbasek9-mz

switch: boot usbflash0:c3560e-ipbasek9-mz.122-55.SE12.bin

Error loading "usbflash0:c3560e-ipbasek9-mz.122-55.SE12.bin"

Interrupt within 5 seconds to abort boot process.
Boot process failed...

switch:

i properly checked the file was on the USB drive, formated it and tried again making sure it was the only file(with each file 3750 & 3560 separately) to avoid conflict with other files, but no luck.

Thanks for your time.
