Switch SG300-20-20 as L3 switch?

Hi,

In the enterprise of a costumer, there is a ring of switches 3850 (L3) linked by optical fiber (the links are L3 links, not trunks) and using OSPF to router the traffic between diferents vlans of the switches.

Now, the costumer wants to include a new switch between two existents switches (they are linked now) but using a Cisco SG300-20-20. My question is: can this working like a L3 switch? I have seen that you can configure static routes but I didn´t find anything about routing protocols.

Thanks!

Yes no ospf sorry just found post stating 32 statics not even rip on sg300 , not really layer 3 device then you will need something better , checking even the sg500 thats mentioned in the  post that doesnt even support ospf , a 2960xr switch supports ip lite ospf only around 200 dynamics routes and stub eigrp but its an option as cheap layer 3 switch

You can make the switch layer 3 in administration -system settings -system mode , should be able to do ospf then

Thanks for your asnwer Mark. But I don´t find any reference about using dynamic routing with this switch. In the links that you posted (and other results in google) I only find that you can use static routing with this switch in L3 mode, but not OSPF and other routing protocols.

Anyone know something about it?

Thanks!

Thank you very much Mark!

Then the costumer will need another switch (like the 3850 that they have already using in other sites of the ring).
