Hi Team ,

We have 4 9300 switch that are part of stack , the stack port of switch-3 port 2 and switch-4 port 1 is down as shown in the diagram below . In this case what happens to data plane ? Will we be able to use the interface of switch 3 and 4 ?

please advice .

Means the stack ring is running on half-duplex.

Also means there is no redundancy -- If the stacking cable connecting switch 3 and switch 4 fails or gets severed, switch 4 is in standalone.

Thank you

Yes, you should still be able to have full stack connectivity. That is a good reason for making sure that you have a loop in your stack connections. Otherwise you could have orphaned members if a switch in the middle of the stack fails.

Thank you

Hello @Network_Sarovani ,

>> In this case what happens to data plane ? Will we be able to use the interface of switch 3 and 4 ?

Yes but with reduced speed ( by half) with switch 4 connected to switch 1 and switch 3 connected to switch 2 as shown in your last show command on the rightmost columns.

It is not a partiotioned stack but you should buy a replacement stack cable to restore the full ring topology.

Or you can do an RMA for the current cable ( not sure this is possible)

Hope to help

Giuseppe
