Switch stacking question

We have two 3750s in a stacked setup.  One of them has failed and needs to be replaced.
Whats the process to get this done correctly?

From what i have read all i need to do is connect the new switch to the existing switch while the new switch is off.  Then power it up and it should recieve the provisioned config from the master.

Is that correct?

Both swithes are running IOS c3750-advipservicesk9-mz.122-44.SE2.

The master switch has these commands;

switch 1 provision ws-c3750g-24ts-1u
switch 2 provision ws-c3750g-24ts-1u

So if i just add the new switch to the stack will everything just work?

Hi Luca,

Remove the dead switch and replace but DO NOT POWER the switch.  S crew in the stacking cables and apply power.  Make sure the replacement switch has the same IOS version and the same feature set.

Yes this is what i thought i would need to do.  So once the new switch is connected, then powered on, it just receives the configuration from the master?

Does the existing master switch need to be powered off when we remove the old one and connect the new one or can it remain powered on?

    Just power off the bad switch , disconnect the stacking cables , install new switch and stacking cables then power on the replacement switch.

Does the same process also apply when you're adding a new switch into the stack?  So if i wanted to add a 3rd switch into this stack, would i just connect it to the stack while its powered off, then power it up and it will receive the conifg?

If you want quick-n-nasty, then yes.  Otherwise, you can provision the stack master for the new switch.  Have a read of the link provided for a better explaination.
