Hello Everyone,

I have the below scenario:

Two L2 switches - S1 and S2.  Port f0/10 connected to PC1 on vlan 10 on S1. Port f0/11 connected to PC2 on vlan 11 on S2. Port f0/1 on S1 is on vlan 10 and is connected to port f0/1 on S2 is on vlan 11.

Their is no router involved.

How do we make communication between  PC1 and PC2 on this given scenario only. Please reply just on the basis of standard practice and theory.

Thanks

Atul

Hi @atulsrivastava ,

To communicate devices of different vlans you need a device that routes the vlans, either a multilayer switch or a router.

In addition, the interface that connects the switches must be in trunk mode, allowing the traffic of the vlans configured in both switches.

Remember to mark the correct answers as solved, since that helps other users with similar doubts

Hello,
Its necessary a router to establish connection between differents network.
If you apply it will working at the same vlan.
port 10 > pc1 > vlan 10 > S1
port 11 > pc2 > vlan 10 > S2
port 12 > pc3 > vlan 11 > S1
port 13 > pc4 > vlan 11 > S2
port 01 > S1 > trunk allowed both vlans > port 1 > s2 > trunk allowed both vlan

But if you need that vlan 11 and vlan 10 establish connection between them, you will need a L3 device, like a router or SWITCH L3

Thanks in advance.
