Hello
I'd like to know what is "masks" in the output of show platform tcam utilization.
What does 784 mean? What effect has the number of mask in the amount of supported unicast direct routes?
I'm having trouble comparing the capacity of theese two switches, regarding unicast directly-connected routes.
I know the second switch has cpu utilization issues and ip unicast failed routes over 4096 arp entries. What would be the case for the first one?
Switch 1:
CAM Utilization for ASIC# 0 Max Used
Masks/Values Masks/values
Unicast mac addresses: 784/6272 12/26
IPv4 IGMP groups + multicast routes: 144/1152 6/26
IPv4 unicast directly-connected routes: 784/6272 12/26
IPv4 unicast indirectly-connected routes: 272/2176 8/44
IPv4 policy based routing aces: 0/0 0/0
IPv4 qos aces: 528/528 18/18
IPv4 security aces: 1024/1024 27/27
switch1#sh sdm prefer default:

number of unicast mac addresses: 6K
number of IPv4 IGMP groups + multicast routes: 1K
number of IPv4 unicast routes: 12K
number of directly-connected IPv4 hosts: 6K
number of indirect IPv4 routes: 6K
Switch 2:
CAM Utilization for ASIC# 0 Max Used

IPv4 unicast indirectly-connected routes: 2048/2048 46/46
IPv4 policy based routing aces: 442/442 12/12
IPv4 qos aces: 512/512 21/21
IPv4 security aces: 954/954 48/48
switxh2#sh sdm prefer default:

number of unicast mac addresses: 8K
number of IPv4 IGMP groups + multicast routes: 1K
number of IPv4 unicast routes: 10K
number of directly-connected IPv4 hosts: 8K
number of indirect IPv4 routes: 2K
Thanks.

These are internal architecture details.
As long you have less than maximum, switch should work fine. So your problem is something else.
