Hi,
I am implementing Terminal Server for my corp DC.
I have ordered and got Cisco 2901 Router with 16 port Terminal server & high Density 8-port EIA-232 Async Cable.
Some of the device are crossing more than 100mts from the TS where I have put up. I.e there are on different floors.
Can you please suggest the best thing to connect devices on other floors that are more than 100mts distance.
Regards,
MD

Hi Mohan,
I think you must be looking for line drivers, like these:

Hi Pedro,
I have got Octopus cable with me.
So my connections will be like Router with 16-Port Async HWIC and i need to connect the octopus cables to the HWIC slot.
So I will be left out with 16 RJ45 cables(other end of Octopus cable). So can you please suggest how to extend this.

Hi Mohan,
I see your problem, I do not know any device to connect directly to Octopus!
Maybe you will need a simple modular adapter before de line driver (to convert RJ45 to DB9):
octopus RJ45 ----rj45=modular adapter=db9----db9=line driver=rj45----r45=line driver=db9-----db9(modular adapter?)rj45
Not a very orthodox way, but it may work!
Did you tried to access to remote devices (over 100m) with slow speed?

Hi,
I know this is an old question but I have the same issue & have very limited solution options.
Is it possible to send the TS connection up via 10/100/1000 copper/fiber media converter to other floors.
I need to send up several connections from 8th to 26th flr which is over 500 ft.
Have very little copper infrastructure but have plenty fiber....
Please advise.
Thanks,
