TFTP from router to router

Does TFTP  copying from one router to another router  makes the tftp server router to be  down during the copying duration

No.Tthe router configured for tftp-server can operate normally during the copy process

Hi Raja,

although the router keeps workin normally during a TFTP operation you need to kee in mind that:

a) you can't interact with the vast majority of the platform unless opening a secondary TTY line

b) if the router receiving the new IOS has no space on the flash it will need to erase the existing IOS

THEREFORE

it is not a good practise to perform this operation during office hours. And generally it is a good idea to plan a few minutes outage even if no outage will occur unless considering router reload at the end of the operations.

Hi raja,

No it should not . the tftp server on the router basically you are just opening new port and making the router as tftp server , take in mind that you need to do couple of command on the receiving router

like show flash and see if you have enough space.

show version also will allow you to see the who much space you have

Hi thanks for your response  in the cisco site it says that the route processing would be temporirily be down during this time period and we might also loose control  can u see this below url and advise me whether it will go down .
