trouble with SFP in a 3750G

I've got a Cisco 3750G switch, running 12.2(20) IOS. I am having trouble getting a 1000Base-SX SFP to come up properly. I've got a 1000Base-LX transciever in the adjacent slot up and it works fine, but the SX just isn't working. I'm trying to figure out if it's a hardware compatibility problem, but the information on the transciever itself isn't very helpful.

Does anyone have any advice?

If you do a show interface status... does the switch recognize the SFP?

In the type field you should see either

1000BaseSX SFP or

Not Present
