Trunk between 3508 and 3750?

Any reason why an old 3508 and our new 3750 would not be able to connect via trunk port?  We have verified the Gbics and Fiber cables are good, but the interfaces will not come up. Both sides are set to trunk, dot1q....that's it.  Anything we are missing?  Something with a negotiation parameter?

Thank you

Is that a 3508G?

What if you configure both side as access instead does it work?

Can you provide the relevant config form both switches?

Maybe the 3508G doesn't have VLAN instance.  Check using the enable command "sh vlan".  If you don't have it then you need to add it using the 3508G's archaic VLAN Database:

vlan database

vlan 2

exit

Hi,

Have we checked the speed and duplex settings on both the ends?

Also Issue the command show intertace pruning to see whether any vlans are pruned on this interface.

hope this helps.

Thanks

Somu
