Two Sites Multicast Sparse Mode

Hello,

I have a multicast requirment, that I dont understand how to implement.

I have two sites, with 2 sparse mode multicast requirments. The network is already configured with an RP at both ends at both ends as this need to work in both directions.

I have added my multicast groups to the RP access-list.

This works end to end, but does not work locally. I have read the CCO as much as I can and it says that all the traffic will be sent to the RP.

How can I get this working locally between two VLAN Ints on the same router and also remotly. Should multicast just work between vlan ints as long as I have the configured "IP MULTICAST ROUTING" on the 6509 where I need to multicast between two vlans.

Regards

Graham

Each of the Layer-3 interfaces that will participate in Multicast forwarding need to have PIM enabled - in your case 'pim sparse-mode'.  You say you have RP's at either site - I assume both routers are configured as RP's?  If this is the case then they also need to know about each other - you would need MSDP for this, however to keep things simple I would just enable Auto-RP and only have one RP active.

It may be worth posting some configs?
