udp connection on some fetal monitors

Hey, all, can anyone please give me some ideas? At my job, we have a 2960 cisco switch and we have some fetal monitors which use a UDP connection and not tcpip and cause dropping issues. When the connection from the monitor drops it makes the port on the switch flash orange /green then back and forth till we unplug the cable from the port and plug it back up or the nurse goes and restarts the monitor. I understand udp is a faster connection but we can't have dropping issues every time they are on i have looked at the switches they are set to stay alive.

can I see the config of port ?
are UDP traffic is multicast ?

we are using vlan1, no spanning tree, no shut. on the switch and i have screenshot pictures of the switch. the port is 13 its not hooked up right now since they don't have anyone on the monitor

G0/1 and the speed is 100 ? are you config auto speed ?? is this port that you face issue with??

all of our ports are set to auto and port 13 is one of 4 we have trouble with. When the monitors are on they run at speed 10 but the ping from the monitors show 20,60,and some 150 or 200 time-ms

also when the monitors are on the duplex automatically goes to half....  when the port starts flashing it says faulty port than few minutes later its fine for a little while than does it again

Check the monitor duplex and Speed
and turn off auto and manual config the duplex and speed and monitor the port.

it killed the port completely i tried auto, than 1000 full than went down from there

so you solve this by auto ?
Do you check the Speed/duplex in monitor before manually config ?
Can I know what is  monitor device , if the issue not solve with speed/duplex ?

and I am sorry what are you asking are UDP traffic is multicast. fyi I am new to switches

First UDP port  and switch port are diferents. You might know that but as you correlated those two on the same sentence, I find it important to say

Then, I need to add that something is probably flapping the switch port and causing the UDP connection to drop.

It woudl be important look at switch logs and see if you can find something there.

Sorry you are right. i have attached screenshot of the switch the date is wrong i have to fix that. yesterday port 13 went down. Is there a setting or a command for udp connections when setting up 2960 cisco switches?

Post the complete output to the following commands:

  • sh version
  • sh interface <PORT> controll
