Hello

Did you tried to issue:

clear line xx

?

Maybe it got stuck from last time when you successful connect and got disconnected.

Let me know if this is working or give us some configuration output.

Cheers,

Calin

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I have tried the clear lien command, but the same result.

I have desactivated the hardware flowcontrol and now it seems to be working but i get the tacacs authentication.

config output :

===

Line aux 0

password cisco

modem inout

transport input telnet

====

the defaut speed is 9600, databit 8 et stopbit 2.

when i try telnet loopback@ 2001 where 1 is the aux line number, i get the username/password (tacacs) to access to router.

when i enter the user name/pwd, the connection is blocked and i mast to clear the line 1 to start again.

N.B: must i use the loopback address ? is there any way to access device behind the aux port  without telnet?

Thanks for your help.

Regards,

Just a specific thing for cisco 800 routers, both AUX and CONSOLE port are in the same physical RJ-45 and just one can be active at the same time.

Does someone know how to verify anf activate the AUX port?

Thanks,

Hello!

You did activate your AUX port when you configure it.

Regarding the tacacs credentials, do you have any AAA configured on router or switch?

Cheers,

Calin

Thanks for your reply.

I have the AAA tacacs config in my router. when i try telnet @l0 2001 (where 1 line aux line number), i get the AAA authentication and when i enter credentials, the screen is block (i cannot do anything), i must do a clear line or reboot the router.

I use a rolled cable shipped with the router, must i change to a straight cable ?

Thanks,

Dear All,

when i debug telnet trafic, i get the following lines :

the conenction using telnet @ l0 2001 is blocked just after AAA authentication.
