Hubert Kupper

Hello,

we want upgrade our Catalyst4510R+E with 2 SUP8E from

cat4500es8-universalk9.SPA.03.03.02.XO.151-1.XO2.bin to

cat4500es8-universalk9.SPA.03.10.00.E.152-6.E.bin

Is this possible with the normal upgrade procedure: copy the new image to bootflash and slavebootflash then issue the boot system bootflash:...... command?

Regards

Hubert

<>Read the Release Notes carefully.  Pay close attention to the ROMmon version requirement.  It is stated in the Release Notes:

If you are upgrading to Cisco IOS XE Release 3.9.xE and plan to use VSS, you must upgrade your ROMMON to version 15.0(1r)SG10. Otherwise, you must upgrade your ROMMON to at least Version 15.0(1r)SG2.

ROMmon Release Notes

Otherwise, the easiest way to upgrade the IOS is:

1.  Copy the IOS into the primary supervisor card;

2.  Copy the IOS into the secondary supervisor card;

3.  Compare and verify the MD5 hash of the files against the value found in the Cisco website;

4.  Verify the config-registry to be 0x2102;

5.  Change the boot variable string;

6.  Save the config; and

7.  Reboot

Thanks for the reply. Currently ROM 15.1(1r)SG5 is running. Do I have to upgrade the ROMMON?

this ist the output of sh module:

Post the complete output to the command "sh version".

According to the 3.6.10E Release Notes, if you're not running VSS, then ROMmon upgrade is not required.  Upgrade the ROMmon if running VSS.
