Hi,

I upgraded our switch 6506-E (SUP720 10G) to the last version 15.1.1 with success:

Mod Ports Card Type                              Model

--- ----- -------------------------------------- ------------------ -----------

  1   48  CEF720 48 port 10/100/1000mb Ethernet  WS-X6748-GE-TX

  3   16  CEF720 16 port 10GE                    WS-X6716-10GE

  5    5  Supervisor Engine 720 10GE (Active)    VS-S720-10G

Mod MAC addresses                       Hw    Fw           Sw           Status

--- ---------------------------------- ------ ------------ ------------ -------

  1  0016.c810.80ec to 0016.c810.811b   2.3   12.2(18r)S1  15.1(1)SY    Ok

  3  001d.4577.d038 to 001d.4577.d047   1.0   12.2(18r)S1  15.1(1)SY    Ok

  5  0023.33ab.7cd0 to 0023.33ab.7cd7   3.1   8.5(3)       15.1(1)SY    Ok

Mod  Sub-Module                  Model              Serial       Hw     Status

---- --------------------------- ------------------ ----------- ------- -------

1  Centralized Forwarding Card WS-F6700-CFC             xxxxxxxx  2.0    Ok

3  Distributed Forwarding Card WS-F6700-DFC3C     xxxxxxxxxxE  1.0    Ok

  5  Policy Feature Card 3       VS-F6K-PFC3C           xxxxxxxxxxxx  1.0    Ok

  5  MSFC3 Daughterboard         VS-F6K-MSFC3       xxxxxxxxxxx  2.0    Ok

Mod  Online Diag Status

---- -------------------

  1  Pass

  3  Pass

  5  Pass

But sometimes, the switch sent a snmp trap error from the module WS-X6716-10GE (16 ports 10GE) and PFC card like this:

Cisco Module Status Change status 4 (okButDiagFailed)

What does this message mean? I have a problem with the module diagnostics ? A bug ?

Thanks a lot for your help

Best regards

Sam

Hi,

If this happened after the upgrade, then it maybe a bug in the current IOS. Also, when this happens, check the log to see if it appear there too.

Hi,

I checked the log buffer of our 6500 but this error doesn't appear... It's appear only in SNMP trap...

Sam

Hi Fasel,

Kindly go ahead and re-seat the module to get this error cleared.
