Upgrade for a 6509 Sup 2 question

I'm working on a limited budget (who isn't) and want to upgrade my 6509's running a Sup 2 with an MSFC card to something a bit newer. I'd like to be able to go for the Sup 720's but I doubt I can. Would the Sup 32 work? I need a full layer 3 ability as this is my core router and switch.

The SUP32 is a good alternative (and cheaper too) to the SUP720. It is very capable and robust supervisor that can do most of what a SUP720 can do. The only difference is that it can't handle the load of a SUP720. Here are the datasheets for both and you can compare what is best for your network.

Just to add to Mark's post. If you don't have an SFM (Switch fabric Module) in your existing switch then Sup32 is fine. If you do have an SFM then be aware that the Sup32 only supports the shared bus architecture so any fabric enabled line cards will only be able to access the shared bus with a Sup32.

Thanks for the heads up, no I don't have the SFM.
