Post the complete output to the command "dir".

What IOS version & what feature set are you trying to upgrade to?

Dear Leo,

the below is the dir

I need to upgrade the IOS to

  • c3560-ipbasek9-mz.122-55.SE10

to Support the service policy  so to be able to rate limit a special interface'

Ok, use this command:  archive download-sw /over tftp://<TFTP IP address>/IOS_filename.tar

Remember, use the IOS file with the TAR file extension.

Leo I'm in the same situation with a 3550. My question is if i load the K9 ios does it require me to enter a license key ?

regards Troy

normally there is no special requirements needed to download a K9 file .

As what Glen (below) stated, no special requirement needed.  You can upgrade to K9.

If this is a newer Cisco 3650 then;

You should be able to do a "software install file ..." and install it that way.  It should cleanup and remove any files to create enough space for the installation.

I often put the new software on a usb memory key, plug it into the switch, and install it from there.

If this is an older 3560 switch, use the "archive download-sw ..." command with a full install bundle.  It will remove the old software as needed.

Dear Philip,

how i can use the archive download-sw command. as i need to upgrade

from

  • c3560-ipbase-mz.122-35.SE5

to

  • c3560-ipbasek9-mz.122-55.SE10 (11.5 Mbyte)

and the only available memory is (6928384 bytes free)

The archive command should remove the old software for you.
