Hi Folks,

My customer wanna buy an additional module "6704-10G" for use on a switch 6513 non-e slot 12, the only empty slot from the range 9-13 (dual channel for 40G). My customer supervisor is sup720-3B and he told me that a Cisco employee told him that his switch is not allowed to have one more 10G linecard due to hardware limitations, but I haven't found any Cisco documentation that affirm it. So, I just wanna to confirm if there is some kind of limitation for use linecard 6704-10G on slot 12.

Your 6704-10G should only be installed only in slots 9 through 13 in a Cisco Catalyst 6513 or Cisco 7613 chassis.

Refer to Table 1 here.

Leo, tks for answer!

I have commented that from slots slots 9 through 13 my customer only have slot 12 available, but he said an Cisco employee warned that it would be impossible to use an additional module 10G because the equipment would not support. However based on documents I have found and you (Leo) shared appear not to be true and chassis+sup really support a new 10G linecard on slot 12.

Is it correct?

Tks!
