In VSS with Cisco 6509, is it normally that standby VSS member suffer a reload when "redundancy force-switchover " command is executed?

Hi,

When you execute that command, the standby will take over and the previous active box will reload which is something expected as per the way that VSS works.

Hope this helps.

Hi

Infact this the way many cisco devices failover.

Hey,

For your consideration; from the VSS active chassis command console, you can initiate a VSS switchover or a reload.

1. If you enter the reload command from the command console, the entire VSS performs a reload.

2. To reload only the VSS standby chassis, use redundancy reload peer command.

3. To force a switchover from the VSS active to the VSS standby supervisor engine, use the redundancy force-switchover command.

4. To reset the VSS standby supervisor engine or to reset both the VSS active and VSS standby supervisor engines, use the redundancy reload shelf command.

HTH.

Regards,

RS.
