VLAN as a transport alternative

Pardon if am posting this on the wrong post but i have a question that i need assistance

I have partner vendor who uses to seperate network one for scanners using AP and one for workstation. currently this is in two building as seperate network one has 192.168.90.X the other has 192.468.50.X

I need to replicate this in a different building but i have only one open fiber pair.

i do not have access to their equipment but i am thinking i can spare cisco 3700 that i have and create two vlan and pipe these networks over single trunk. the devices on their end are all static and there is no DHCP server.

I have created two VLANs 40 & 41

assigned AP to 41 and Workstations to 40

I can plug the APs  on their port wich is a dummy switch and it works

but when i plug the workstation on vlan 40 it does not work

I did not define IP address on either of the VLAN nor a gateway on the my 3700.

What am i missing or what do i need to tweak - this is the config

You would have to be using the same VLANs numbers as they do, and have them configure a trunk port to you.

Alternatively you can put you own site in the original building, built your own trunk to that, and then break out the two VLANs using access switches and plug it back into their kit that way.

HOWEVER, you really need to get them onboard to help.  Otherwise you might go to a lot of effort that is not required.
