VPC vs 3750 Stackwise

Hello Experts - I have to determine whether to use Nexus 5K or 3750 Stackwise Switch for Etherchannel

What is the advantage of using Nexus VPC over 3750 stackwise in terms of Etherchannel. What i know is

1) 3750 uses stackwise cable which has cable length limitation. Nexus Peerlink can scale on lenght

2) Nexus5K has higher throughput when compared to 3750 switch

What else Nexus 5k VPC has more over 3750 MCEC in terms of redundancy and scalability. Thanks

"Do you recommend 3750 Stackwise technology when comparing with Nexus VPC?"

Maybe yes, maybe no - depends on overall requirements.

"Do you know what is the VPC key selling point when compared with 3750 Stackwise technology."

It's key selling point is it's what's provided for device redundancy on much, much higher overall capacity devices which have features for data centers.

Sounds like you are asking if you need to buy a Nissan Sentra or a Bentley Mulsane in terms of usability. Both can achieve the goal of transportation from A to B, but how much money do you want to spend? Which devices will be connected to? How much speed will they need? Scalability? Which devices are you using for your core infrastructure? Are they for your core layer? Will you need FEXs? etc.

As you see, there are other important questions before asking in terms of etherchannel what the best is.

A Nexus is likely to provide (much, much) more overall capacity than a 3750 stack.

You write "Nexus5K has higher throughput when compared to 3750 switch" which is true for aggregate throughput, but might actually be no better and in some cases worst than the stack.

The reason a stack might surpass vPC, because with vPC (or VSS) you may need to hop between the Nexus pair and as much bandwidth might not be available there as on the Stack ring (of course either might be congested or not too).

Do you recommend 3750 Stackwise technology when comparing with Nexus VPC?

Do you know what is the VPC key selling point when compared with 3750 Stackwise technology.
