VRRP immediately failover

Hi all,

I am having a hard time trying to setup a VRRP failover situation where VRRP needs to failover instantly between two routers, whenever a network becomes unreachable.

In my case I have two routers, one is the primary gateway, the other one is the backup gateway.

The primary routers tracks a loopback interface on the backup router via a static route.

I would like to setup object tracking on this static route so whenever the loopback interface on the backup gateway becomes unreachable, VRRP failsover instantly.

I know about the consequences like flapping, but that is strangely enough desirable.

Does anyone perhaps have an example config on how to implement such VRRP configuration?

It would help me alot because i cannot find anything on the internet on how to.

Kind regards,

Dwayne

Hi,

you don't need to track the loopback, just tweak the hello/hold timer to msec :

int x/x

vrrp x  timers advertise msec xx

Regards.
