VSS from 4500-E Sup8-E to other SUP as 4500-E Sup7-E / Sup8L-E

Hi all

Last year our company bought 1x 4503-E with Sup8E. This year we will buy 1 more for redundancy and use VSS to connect between 2 SWs.

We want to reduce the cost, so we want to buy Sup7E or 8L-E. So I wonder if either Sup7E/Sup8L-E can do VSS with SUP-8E.

Did anyone set up it before.

All supervisor engines or systems in a VSS must match precisely.

Can I configure a VSS between chassis of different slot capacities?

    Yes, a VSS between chassis of different slot capacities works fine. However, note that +E and -E chassis cannot be mixed.

Can I have VSSs across different types of Supervisor Engines?

     No. The supervisors need to be of same type with same software version.
