VTP version 3 practice labs

What is a good way to practice VTP labs without buying expensive switches.

I have Catalyst 3750 series switches  with

Cisco IOS Software, C3750 Software (C3750-ADVIPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.2(44)SE4, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

but it only supports  VTP  version 1- 2.

Packet tracer 7.3.0 does not seem to support VTP version 3 either.

Yes, for version 3 you need 12.2(52) SE or later. If you can't upgrade the existing version to 12.2(52), you can simply go over this document and learn the difference between 2 and 3.

Thank you Reza, I have looked at that document. But I like to do hands-on labs. I guess upgrading to IOS  12.2(52) is not an option for  Catalyst 3750, but might be possible for the 3750e or 3750x models as they have bigger flash size.

The 3750 is limited to 16 MB of flash where the image  12.2(52) image exceeds that size.

Hi,

That is correct. The original 3750 came with only 16 Mb of flash. It is also over 15 years old. On the other hand, you can get 3750x series on eBay for a pretty good prices. Here is one

I was able to locate  3 X    Cisco Catalyst WS-C3750X-48T-L 48-Port Gigabit Switch on ebay for  $45/each .

I was able to upgrade my 3750 switches to IOS 12.2(55) SE12 which supports VTP Version 3
