Let's see if I can post now...

I'm putting back in production a Cisco 4507R-E switch with two supervisors, and what I need si to enable all SFP ports of 1Gbit by giving up the four ten gigabit ports, which I don't need anymore for the new purpose.

I've read that to accomplish that i need to issue the next command on the global config

hw-module uplink select gigabitethernet

But the switch do no recognise the command:

  MAT_SW1_PT2(config)#hw-module ?
module  Specify a linecard slot for the hw-module command
slot    Specify a linecard slot for the hw-module command

    MAT_SW1_PT2(config)#hw-module

Here is my running-config:

    MAT_SW1_PT2#sh module

Any ideas?? Could be due old firmware?

Thanks in advance!!

Hi!

Can you try this one?

hw-module slot x operation-mode port-group x gigabit

x is the number of the module, in this case would be 3 or 4 (supervisor module).

Regards,

JC

Only allowed to power the module:

MAT_SW1_PT2(config)#hw-module slot 4 ?
power Enable power to module in specified slot
MAT_SW1_PT2(config)#hw-module slot 3 ?
power Enable power to module in specified slot
MAT_SW1_PT2(config)#hw-module slot 2?
<1-7>
MAT_SW1_PT2(config)#hw-module slot 2 ?
power Enable power to module in specified slot
MAT_SW1_PT2(config)#hw-module slot 2

Hi, anyone knows how to enable the hw-module uplink option?

Thanks!

You don't have to disable anything.  You can simply use the 1Gig ports. You can also use both 1Gig and 10Gig concurrently.

from the data sheet:

Like the higher-end Cisco Catalyst 4500 Series Supervisor Engine V-10GE, all four Gigabit Ethernet ports and both 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports are active and can be used concurrently

HTH

No, I can't. As you can see, half of ports of supervisors are in inactive state.
