way to get SPF part numbers

I'm wondering if there is an easy way to get the part numbers for SFP modules that are plugged into our current 2960 and 3560 series switches without powering the switches down and pulling the modules out of the switches?  The switches are running IOS 12.2 if that makes a difference.

Thanks, in advance, for any assistance.

The switches are running IOS 12.2 if that makes a difference.

Can you please provide the complete IOS version?

When i log into one of the switches with the modules installed and in use, sh inventory  gives me the name of the interface, a description, a blank where PID should be, a blank where VID should be, and a serial number.

Hmmmm ... That'll be dependent on the IOS (maybe a bug) or the make/model of the SFP in particular.

Can you post the complete output to the command "sh idprom interface <SFP port>"?

Command:  sh inventory

Leo,

When i log into one of the switches with the modules installed and in use, sh inventory  gives me the name of the interface, a description, a blank where PID should be, a blank where VID should be, and a serial number.  Is the description the part number?  I thought it would be the PID.

The IOS version appears to be (C3560-IPSERVICESK9-M) version 12.2(37) SE Release.

From this, it looks like the part number is FTLF1318P2BCL-CS.

Doug

I also forgot to say that I think this answers my question, at least for the information that I asked about in the original question.  Again thank you for your time and assistance.
