What causes an eigrp neighbor to re-establish?

Not applicable

Can anybody confirm for me which actions will cause an eigrp neighbor relationship to drop/ re-establish and reconverge?

I.e. Does adding a network statement cause a reconvergence?

Cheers,

Neil

Hi,

take a look at the neighbour flapping part in this doc:http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk365/technologies_tech_note09186a0080094613.shtml

Regards.

Alain - thanks for this. I was looking more for administrative changes that will cause an outage...

Hi,

adding a network command won't do this unless of course the network command is comprising the link between the neighbours.

what are you intending to do or what did you do so the neighbourship could or is failing ?

Regards.

Alain.

Hello Neil,

To my best knowledge (and as far as I can recall), these are the situations causing EIGRP neighbors to resync or drop and reestablish an adjacency:

  • activation or deactivation of automatic summarization
  • configuring or removing a manual summarization
  • configuring, changing or removing a distribute-list
  • configuring, changing or removing the EIGRP Stub settings

Anyone else to add another situations where EIGRP neighbors resync?

Best regards,

Peter

Thanks Peter - just what I was looking for.

Thanks for your help too Alain.
