What does this error mean:"%OIR-SP-4-WARN: PRIMARY(1) REPORTED AS NOT OCCUPIED IN SLOT!! disable_reason: 15(off (Re set)), get_peer_previous_slot: 0, is_occupied"?

This is a 6509 with Sup-2/MSFC2.  Can't find any reference to this error on the cisco web site.

Hello Lojo,

this is a message from redundancy feature

do you have two sup2/MSFC2 in this C6500?

OIR = online insertion and removal

SP = switch processor

WARN = severity level 4

primary = referred to primary active supervisor

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst6500/ios/12.1E/native/system/messages/edesc.html#wp1041280

FACILITY-SOURCE-SEVERITY-MNEMONIC: Message-text

the master supervisor was considered off line for a short time

if you issue a sh redundancy do you see two supervisors?

Hope to help

Giuseppe

We had the same issue here in a 6506. But the message came together with

%C6KENV-SP-4-FANTRAYFAILED: fan tray 1 failed

%C6KENV-SP-4-FANTRAYOK: fan tray 1 OK

%C6KENV-SP-4-FANTRAYFAILED: fan tray 1 failed

%C6KENV-SP-4-FANTRAYOK: fan tray 1 OK

....

after replacing the faulty fan tray both error messages disappeared. So the message

"%OIR-SP-4-WARN: PRIMARY(1) REPORTED AS NOT OCCUPIED IN SLOT!! disable_reason: 15(off (Reset)), get_peer_previous_slot: 0, is_occupied fn ptr:0x40499798" was a bit misleading.
