Hello ITexpert, VTP does not support Private VLANs. In fact, VTP mode must be set to transparent prior to configuring private VLANs, and those private VLANs should be manually configured on all the switches on which those are required. VTP prunning is a feature that will avoid sending unnecessary flooded traffic (broadcast traffic in a particular VLAN) to switches that are not having ports in that VLAN/Broadcast domain. Please refer to the following document for more details: VTP Prunning https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/lan-switching/vtp/10558-21.html#vtp_pruning

Hello

Correct in fact the switch should prompt you if you try to create Pvlan if the vtp mode is other than transparent

kind regards

Thanks Andre,

you mean to say even configuring VTP pruning without transparent mode will not allow me to configure private vlans ?

Thanks
