What is meaning backup on HSRP statas?

Hi ALL,

There are 5 vlans.

The other four vlans aren't backup status.

Only one of five vlans display messeages.

When I reload Catalyst3750E-1,debug log is the fwolloing.

HSRP detects when the designated active router fails, at which point a selected standby router assumes control of the MAC and IP addresses of the Hot Standby group. A new standby router is also selected at that time.

HSRP state doesn't have backup state.

I don’t understand that one of five vlans was displayed.

Hi Keiko,

What is the issue, what you want to know.
Is you want per vlan HSRP whcih means you will have default gateway redundancy for all configured vlans.

I've got your question. Now I'm understand.

Backup is one of the states that HSRP transitioning during it's process.
