Will the CVR-X2-SFP10G converter increase latency?

Hi Everyone,

I had a quick question regarding the CVR-X2-SFP10G. I have a customer who works for a trading firm and they are looking to use the CVR-X2-SFP10G with a 10GB SFP on a 4900M to save money instead of using the X2 mod. They asked if there is any downsides to using this converter with the SFP. I know there is a compatibility matrix of: switches, ios vers and SFPs. But the first thing that came to my mind was if there was a latency hit. Obviously microseconds count for traders. Any other downsides? Any insight would be helpful.

Thanks everyone.

Hi Kevin,

This is just my opinion.  I don't think having an X2 interface vs a OneX module makes any difference in the performance of the link.  Most of the DB losses in the fiber comes from patching through multiple patch panels. But just switching the connectors from SC to LC should not effect the data rate.
