WS-45xx bundles questions

Hello,

I am interesting in 2 bundles (WS-C4507RE+96V+ and WS-C4510RE-S7+96V+) which described in the FAQ of New Cisco Catalyst 4500 E-Series Redundant Chassis (question 9 and 10):

WS-C4507R+E and WS-C4510R+E. They say, that both bundles have installed:

  • 1x Chassis (WS-C4507R+E and WS-C4510R+E, respectively)
  • 1x Supervisor (WS-X45-SUP7L-E and WS-X45-SUP7-E, respectively)
  • 2x line cards with 10/100/1000 PoE+ supported ports (WS-X4748-RJ45V+E)

I have some questions about this:

  1. Is it correct list and supervisors included?
  2. Retail GPL price for any bunlde is lower (~30%) than separately parts costs total. Is it ok?
  3. Power supplies dont included in bundle and I should order its separately?
  4. How about SMARTnet part number(s) on bundle if I'll order some more modules/cards (i.e. redundant supervisor of right type and 10G fiber line cards)?

Hi,

If you want to get an accurate configuration, use the dynamic configuration tool

https://apps.cisco.com/qtc/config/html/configureHomeGuest.html

Power supplies dont included in bundle and I should order its separately?

That is correct, usually you add the power supply to your order.  It does not come with the chassis.

How about SMARTnet part number(s) on bundle if I'll order some more modules/cards (i.e. redundant supervisor of right type and 10G fiber line cards)?

The same here.  SmarNet is usually separate.

Retail GPL price for any bunlde is lower (~30%) than separately parts costs total. Is it ok?

Sometimes, bundle is cheaper, but after you put some configs together using the above link, talk to you sales person.  It also depends on the discount level you get.

Is it normal that bundle costs (by GPL price) more cheaper than the same parts separately ?

Yes, usually that is the case.

Now, that you have a pretty good config, talk to you sales rep to make sure you get the proper discount, correct SmartNet contract, etc..

Hmmmm ... I would recommend you wait for the next few weeks (after Cisco Live).

There's a new supervisor card about to come out.

How about SMARTnet contracts? I found only

CON-SNT-C4507REVSMARTNET 8X5XNBD WS-C4507R+E Chassis,2   WS-X4648-RJ45V+E

but supervisor, line cards not included. How to cover rest parts by smartnet?

SMARTnet covers the entire chassis, whcih will include Supervisor cards, line cards, fan trays, power supply.

Correct.  As Leo also said it correctly, the SmartNet covers the entire chassis which includes all the parts.

Reza, PM sent.

Go it.

Thanks Leo!!
