I have a C6807-XL with a WS-X6848-SFP-2T line card.
We are doing tests with a GLC-LH-SM and the transceiver does not work when inserted in the WS-X6848-SFP-2T. If I insert this transceiver in another switch for instance a WS-C2960X-48LPD-L it works fine.
Does anyone have an idea of what might be wrong?
Thanks in advance.

I don't know the answer.
Do you get anything in the log?
Sometimes Cisco modules require that you pre-configure the speed or SFP type. See if the port interfaces have anything to allow this.
I was looking in this compatibility guide and it keeps mentioning GLC-LH-SMD. Are you sure you shouldn't be using an GLC-LH-SMD instead of a GLC-LH-SM?

Thanks for the answer. The thing is that I have found a document where the GLC-LH-SM are supported on the WS-X6848-SFP-2T.
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/interfaces_modules/transceiver_modules/compatibility/matrix/GE_Tx_Matrix.HTML
This document states the compatibility on the 6500 series switches. I have not been able to find a document for the 6807XL switch. So either the GLC-LH-SM are supported on the WS-X6848-SFP-2T and I am doing something wrong, or they are only supported on these line cards but on a 6500 series switch and not on the 6807XL. If that is so I would need a document to support this before taking this up with the end customer.
Thanks
Victor

I don't know what more I can give you. I posted you both the link to the compatibility document (I'm not sure what other document you would want), and a screen shot out of the Cisco Commerce Tool showing it is not a valid selectable option.
I tried the link you supplied about but I got a 404.

Link worked for me. The relevant section seems to indicate it should work, with the right IOS installed.

6800 - interesting that section doesn't actually show a 6848.

So rhobab , what software version is your client running?

I am running version 15.1(2)SY4a

Well there is your issue. You need to to upgrade to a minimum of 15.2(1)SY to get support. If there is a more recent gold star release I would go to that instead.
