Cisco Room 55 HDMI Presentation Cable

Hello,

I have one question regarding the Cisco Room 55. The HDMI cable that comes on the package for connecting Laptop or PC for presentation labeled with Cisco on one end and HDMI on the other end as shown on the guide, is this a special cable designed to work only on this device as long as connected in proper way (Cisco label on PC, HDMI label on codec)? I'm asking because in the room where we will install one of this device, we need longer HDMI cable for presentation and the length of the HDMI cable that comes with the package will not be enough so we are planning to use other branded HDMI cable like Extron. So we gonna connect the ends in any position. Will this work?

The cable that comes with the unit is a boosted cable - that is why it only works in one direction.

If you need to use a longer cable, make sure that it is not just a standard long HDMI cable and include some kind of boost.  Alternately, use some HDMI extenders and run some standard category cable between them.  This is relevant to all HDMI connections, not just those to a Cisco TelePresence endpoint.

There is a Cisco 9m long cable you can purchase too which was made specifically for the Room Series endpoints - the CAB-HDMI-MUL4K-9M=.  Another advantage of this cable is the multi-head it has on it to allow connection to different types of devices.
