Cisco SX20 Video Conference Federation

Hey guys. I have a customer who wants to have their SX20 be able to video conference with another sip video conferencing device on a completly foreign separate partner compnay. Is there some sort of federation, or any way to rig this so they can accomplish this result? I know of none.

This is just a guess, but can you enter another 'provisioning external manager' IP address?  There should be four.?.?.  One of which you're already registered to.

So that would imply to register their SX20 to the foreign CUCM temporarily so it can dial their local SX20, provided there other video end point is also registered to CUCM, and there is some sort of network trust between the sites etc, correct?

That's what VCS Control and Expressway are for. Making B2B calls.

True.  Or if he has a VCS set/establish a neighbor zone with the other company.  It's a couple of ways he could do it.  It depends on what his collaboration infrastructure looks like.

The base question is how is the sx20 used and deployed today, what kind of infrastructure exists and

how shall the future look like.

The simplest way would be to put both video systems on public ips and just dial via the internet via ip.

Everything else would sure become more complex. If more devices shall be used, integration is needed

uri dialing is wanted and so on a VCS-C VCS-E (+ CUCM) is a nice way to go.

Check the business case and involve (a) Cisco (Partner) to help you.

There are also companies offering registration services for video endpoints (like my employer does),

that could be also an option.
