Hi everyone,
It's a new installation. I have a customer trying to install release=IX8.1.0(201) on an IX5000 that comes from Cisco with release=IX8.1.0.1(11). The customer doesn´t want a newer version because they have others endpoints with IX8.1.0(201) and at this time is thinking about mantains all endpoints into the same release. So they can´t to use the upgrade normal procedure (using CUCM).
Now I ask you....How is the complete procedure to follow in order to do this downgrade on this telepresence endpoint?. I read the release note and It mentions what to do on CUCM to avoid several restarts, but it doesn´t mention anything about how to download the old version into the inactive partition of the endpoint (only talks how to switch once the old version is already inside it).
Thanks in advance.
Omar

Hi Manish,
After all thank you for you reply. I saw this release notes before but I still didn´t find an answer. I will try to explain better:

I'm not sure about the IX Series, but for TelePresence endpoints, you can simply install the lower version software package onto the endpoint. This process is the same as if you were to go through an upgrade, but instead of installing a newer software image, you're installing an older image for the purpose of downgrading.

Hi Patrick,
Unfortunatly, IX Series are different. This is what I saw inside the release note documentation:
You cannot downgrade the IX software version using standard downgrade procedures. You must switch from the current software version on the active partition of the IX system to the earlier software version stored on the inactive partition. The following limitations apply:
■Using the Swap Loads operation in the Unified CM Device Defaults Configuration to downgrade is not supported.
■You can upgrade the software version for all IX systems in a Unified CM cluster. However, you must downgrade the software version on each IX system separately. While upgrades are performed in Unified CM, downgrades must be performed directly in the IX file system.
■You can only switch the IX software version to the version stored on the inactive partition on the IX system. Typically, this is the version immediately prior to the release version being used.
As you can see I must to do the downgrade directly in the IX5000 endpoint, but I don´t know how are the CLI commands to do it.
Thank you
Omar

Good catch, I missed that when I looked at the link Manish provided.
Well, since the second software image on the system is the same as the active image, I'm afraid you cannot downgrade and will need to maintain two different software versions or upgrade your existing system to match the newer version.
