Hi Professionals,
I configured Multicast on 3550,but 3550 keeps sending broadcast traffics to every port inside of vlan.
Is that right?, or I missed something.
Thanks in advance,
Roger

All switches will flood multicast/broadcast traffic to all ports in the same vlan, this is a default behavior of a switch.
We can configure PIM and IGMP snooping on the Cat3550 layer3 switch, once configured the switch will only forwards mulitcast
traffics to the multicast receiver and not to flood to all ports in the same vlan. assuming the sender and receiver are on the same vlan for your multicast deployment,

I already configured igmp snooping, but it still doesn't work.
Also, PIM is for the muticast-routing between IP peer....? Do I have to configure PIM on the switch even though source and destination are still on the same vlan.
Thanks,
