Hi all,
I have a customer that has a somewhat peculiar issue using presentations in Movi.
The scenario is this:
Brand new Lenovo laptop (Core i5, 2 Gb RAM) running Windows XP SP3 with Direct X 9.0c with Office XP SP3 and IE 8. When running presentation in Movi the following happens:
Using the same type of laptop running windows 7 and office 2010 (and 2007) does not display these issues at all. We have not tested with winXP and Office 2007- but I´m pretty sure that will work since that´s a common configuration and I have not heard of such issues with that config.
I feel that it must have something to do with how the applications draw the picture. Any ideas or even a solution perhaps?
Kind regards
Mattias

HI Mattias,
I can perform a test on a XP SP 2 - if you'd like kindly asked to send me the presentation you're using to crisalex@cisco.com

Take a look at Movi 4.2 Release Notes. There are know issues with presentation on WinXP (flickering).
You will find this in Java screens, IE, notepad and some office tools.

Thanx,
I already looked at it and it explains the IE problem and it might actually explain the Office part. I have been trying to find what might have changed between the different office versions to be able to explain why it works on later versions.
Do you perhaps have an answer to that?

Hi Mattias,
I did a search in our bug database and I'm afraid the we do not have a short term fix from this issue. the issue it's related to the way API it's used in movi to take the source that it's about to be sharred according to the developers unfortunately not all application developers prioritize this. Not even Microsoft itself, who designed this API.
In windows XP this is the only way we can be able to get one singe source and grab it (without sharing the whole screen, including your Movi application if that is on top)
We are currently working on this issue but as previously mentioned it's not an easy fix for windows XP ( for the API we are using to take the source that we would like to share)
Regards
Cristian

Well,
There we go. As I suspected then. Thanx for looking into it. Hopefully a solution will come further down the line.
Thanx all :)
