License VCS control

Hi all.

VCS control has 2 kinds of license: traversal and non-traversal license.

Does a non-traversal call on a VCS control consume a traversal license if there are no non-traversal call licenses available?

Thanks.

Take a look at the "Call Types and Licensing" section of the VCS Admin Guide on 378, it explains what both non-traversal and traversal call types are and their use.  If there are not enough non-traversal license available, the VCS will consume a traversal license (it's noted in that section of the guide).

Hi Patrick.

I read you guide but it is only VCS Expressway:

"Note that a non-traversal call on a VCS Expressway will consume a traversal license if there are no non-traversal call licenses available (in this situation, the call will remain a non-traversal call — the VCS Expressway will not take the media, even though it is using a traversal license)."

My case is VCS Control.

Hi,

This behaviour with consume licenses only for VCS-Expressway.

For VCS-Control traversal licenses can not consume non-traversal licenses. And non-traversal licenses can not consume traversal licenses.

To add on Oleksandr response, VCS Control and Expressway have different behavior in call license usage.

The traversal call licenses on VCS Control are mainly for:

  • calls to or from a traversal server (VCS Expressway)
  • local calls within the VCS Control that are interworked (H323<--->SIP) or (IPv4<--->IPv6)
  • local SIP to SIP call within the VCS Control when one of the participants is behind a NAT (unless both endpoints are using ICE for NAT traversal)

The VCS Control will not consume the traversal license if the above criteria of calls are not met. When you reach the non-traversal call license limit and adding another non-traversal call within VCS, the call will fail and the VCS will give you a warning that the call license limit reached with alarm ID 30019 . You may need to purchase additional non-traversal call license for your VCS Control depending on the volume of calls.

  • LIC-VCS-20 (Additional 20 non-traversal calls for VCS Control)
  • LIC-VCS-50 (Additional 50 non-traversal calls for VCS Control)
  • LIC-VCS-200 (Additional 200 non-traversal calls for VCS Control)
  • LIC-VCS-300 (Additional 300 non-traversal calls for VCS Control)
