Problem with Video Calls and Hairpinning on a router

I have a 2851 that has a PRI connection to a NEC PBX. That NEC PBX has 3 BRI trunks that connect to a Tandberg Video Unit. The 2851 Also has a connection to the PSTN. We want to be able to call from the Video Unit and call out to the PSTN. This Use to work, but now all we can do is, when we call, the video connects but it only connects at 64K,(so only one channel connects). I don't know what changed, but for what ever reason it stop working. But incoming calls work fine, just outgoing does not work.

Here is a debug isdn q931 for an out going video call,

aaa-voip(config-voiceport)#

Make sure there is no change in the Video Codec used. Also check whether the video unit is requesting for correct bandwidth.

Try using the 'bearer-capability speech' command on the Voice Ports between your router and PBX/PSTN.

This should work fine, though there are a couple of things that need to be set up properly. We did some extensive lab testing with a Polycom unit and running calls over 3 BRI ports (6 B channels) and got it working for inwards and outwards calls.

The router will handle an ISDN data call bearer cap and drop the DSP after the call has connected so you get a pure PCM connection.

By the look of it you are hairpinning the call from one PRI port to another, so you need to ensure the clocking is set up correctly as clock slips will kill data calls. Can you post your router config so we can confirm how things have been setup.

Here is an app note that give a bit more information on TDM hairpinning, we will updating the note with details on the ISR routers soon.

Thanks for the input, I put the bearer-cap Speech under the port that connects to the PBX and that worked. However doing a Shut/No shut on the port did not work. I had to do a full reboot of the router for it to start working. thanks for the info

Hi all

i saw your conversation about ISR & hairpinning for Videoconferencing.

Is it possible that you provide me your working configuration ?

many thanks
