Questions about Cisco DX80

So I have like 3-4 of these that have never been used. The one I’m playing with literally came out a box I had to open.

I know it can’t be used for its original purpose. But it’s working as an external monitor. Is there any way to get sound out of it though. I’m connected over hdmi. I honestly don’t think there is anything that can be done. But I ask you good people to let me know for sure.

Is there anything that can be done with this other than it just being a monitor? Is it possible o get sound out of it in some kinda way?

The DX80 is still a "supportable" device and doesn't reach its end of support date until 31 January 2026 if running the CE9 software.

In any case, yes, you should be able to select the DX80 (or the HDMI port is it connected to) as an audio output device from your PC/laptop.  This will allow both the audio and video to be shown on the device.

As Wayne said - it's still supported and should work fine either registered to Control Hub or CUCM. And sound? Absolutely works, if you use HDMI out of your laptop to the HDMI in port, sound will work and come out of the DX's speakers. You might need to check the output settings on your laptop, you should see the DX80 as an option if it doesn't switch to it by default.
