Dear all,
I am new in the field of IP telephony. Do i require a gatekeeper for establishing 20 IP telephones on an existing LAN? Can you suggest whether I have to get Gatekeeper licence or not?
It is very urjent, kindly do the needful.

You will not need a gatekeeper for IP phones in a Callmanager environment. You will need Gatekeeper only in a H323 based network for call admission and directory purposes...

Pavas,
In a "normal" CallManager 1-2 site install you do not need Gatekeeper, not worth the effort.
I a larger CallManager setup in which you don't have all of the sites defined in the CallManager, you have alot of International sites, or IPCC Enterprise multi-site, Gatekeeper makes your life easier in the config and maintaining world.
As in most VoIP installs it comes down to how you use it.
