Telepresence presentation stays on for infinity

I have several versions of telepresence systems throughout my org and they all have the same issue.  When the share (to present content in room or in call) button is pressed for an HDMI input, it will share that content input forever.  Meaning, any standby or time out settings configured do nothing.  In a perfect world, every user would use the touch 10 to stop sharing the content input, thus allowing the codec to go to standby as configured.  I've checked the video input configurations available on each input and I cannot find a way to fix this and systems stay on for hours, days or worse, weeks at a time.  I understand logic that putting a control in place that stops sharing content that could interfere with a meeting.  However, there has to be something I am missing that I can configure to stop shairng the input if no video is detected after x time OR stop sharing the input after 8pm if no video is detected.  Or prompt the user to continue the share (like Netflix "are you still watching") after 2, 4, 6, or 8 hours of sharing content.  Help!

Is there an HDMI extender between the client device and codec? If yes, configure it to stop transmitting when there is no source.  You could also test this theory by using a passive HDMI cable direct to the codec; it should automatically stop sharing/previewing that input when it is unplugged from the source.
