The TRC6 remote is supported on all CE software versions on the SX20.
You can use a TRC6 with TC software, and an TRC5 with CE software, just that not all the buttons will work and function, nor is the interface necessarily optimised for use with the wrong remote (and some things just won't be able to be done using the new TRC6 remote on the old TC software).
CE will also pop up a warning message on the screen if one of the TRC5 buttons that isn't supported is pushed to alert the user they are using an incorrect remote - but the basic buttons will still work.
Here we did the software upgrade before sending out the remotes as the path of least resistance.
