C20 IR issue

Ben Blumson

Hi all,

Throwing this out there in case anyone else is having (or even better, solved) a similar issue.

We have a C20 on which the Camera IR sensor is ON and the SystemUnit IR sensor is switched off.  The camera IR sensor flashes when the user uses the remote control but it doesn't do anything.

Flicking the IR settings over (Camera OFF, SystemUnit ON) enables the user to perform all the required functions.  But this is not a solution because the codec is housed inside a cabinet.  We have reseated the camera control cable at both ends and also downgraded the system from TC7.1.1 to TC6.1.1, then up to TC7.1.1 again.  Setting the SystemUnit setting to AUTO provides no functionality.

I've compared the faulty system's settings to that on a working system and they are identical.  Although, the faulty system's diagnostics shows a Camera Detection error / camera not found.

Is this familiar to anyone else?

Cheers,

Ben

How long is your camera control cable if your C20 is not near the camera?

For long cables (20m), or possibly low quality cable if you're using a custom one, you will need to power the camera independently.

Hi Wayne,

Just using the standard camera control cable from Cisco.  I'll try using one from a different system and see if that does any good.

If you're grabbing one from a similar C20, then that's good, but if it's one from a different type of unit, you'll need to beware - there are two types of control cable (a C3000 and a C6000), and they're not compatible, even though they look the same from the outside.
