Calls to VCS from CUCM for non-local domains

We have a situation where there is a single VCS Control and Expressway, and CUCM Pub and Sub 9.1. In the documentation, it states to add a SIP Route Pattern of either *.* or *.vcs.domain.

Since we only have a single VCS Control and Expressway, clustering won't be needed and the SIP domain would be for example company.com.

CUCM FQDN is configured for domain.com.

Now, since the domain name configured on CUCM is company.com, will the *.* SIP Route Pattern send everything to the VCS with a URI?

Example - Bob and Tom's EX-60 endpoints are both registered to CUCM. URI's have been configured for their DN of <name>@domain.com

     Bob dials tom@domain.com

Will CUCM try and send that call to VCS first, even though Tom's EX-60 is registered to CUCM?

Will the SIP Route Pattern be applied for endpoints calling other endpoints registered to CUCM?

Hi Daniel,

The Order That CUCM searches URI table, is similar to DNs (directory numbers) and RPs (Route Patterns). Basically the CUCM will try to find the URI locally. If available it will send the call to the URI. If not found, it will try to find a match in the SIP Route Pattern. So in you case the default URI Pattern (* or *.*). This is done only if URI is not found locally.
