Cisco Intelligent Proximity for Content Sharing- Support with SX10 Part Codes-(CTS-SX10N-K9 & CTS-SX10-K9)

I understand how Cisco Proximity for Content sharing works and the way it shares ultrasound tokens every 3 mins.

As per the Eol datasheet for SX10-

"The part number CTS-SX10-K9 is AEOS and will no longer be available for sale from Cisco as of 09-Mar-2016. Available Replacement Product  Part Number for this item is CTS-SX10N-K9.

Both units (CTS-SX10-K9 / CTS-SX10N-K9) have the same functionality, performance, and features. The only difference between SX10 and SX10N is that the SX10N will not depend on external speakers (through HDMI or line out) for Intelligent Proximity. SX10N has an integrated sensor to pick up the Intelligent Proximity signal."

Need Clarity on below points:

Ques 1. Does it means that SX10 (with old Part Code: CTS-SX10-K9) is not capable of allowing intelligent proximity for wireless presentation?

Ques 2. SX10N will not depend on external speakers (through HDMI or line out) for Intelligent Proximity. SX10N has an integrated sensor to pick up the Intelligent Proximity signal. What is the role of integrated sensor here and is it not available with old Part Code: CTS-SX10-K9

Ques 3. Will it be correct to say-

  1.              Cisco Intelligent Proximity for Content Sharing is included with  software release CE 8.0.
  2.              The old Part Code for SX10( CTS-SX10-K9) does not support Intelligent Proximity. Do we need to upgrade the Software release to CE8.0 to make it work for intelligent proximity
  3.            However, the latest Part Code for SX10 (CTS-SX10N-K9) gets shipped with CE8.0 and will support Intelligent Proximity.

Regards

Sumit

First off, the key point that answers all of your questions is right in the EOS announcement: "Both units (CTS-SX10-K9 / CTS-SX10N-K9) have the same functionality, performance, and features.".  The only difference between the part numbers is how they're able to detect Proximity signal, refer to Table 3 of the announcement.

Proximity is fully supported with CE8.0 and later, refer to the below links for more information on CE8.0 software and Proximity:

CE8.0 Release Notes / Proximity Release Notes
