I don't think there is any easy way through any of the usual interfaces to get these "lost" recordings back in to the TCS. I'd suggest you log a call with the TAC to see if their TCS Gurus are able to suggest anything (such as a hack to the SQL database).
S5.3 is also extremely old, so I would suggest you consider an upgrade to a recent and more supportable version. S7.2.1 is the latest release.
